Game night offers a welcome change of pace in a world that is becoming more centred on screens and virtual connections. It’s an opportunity to switch off from technology, meet new people in person, and engage in some friendly competition.

That’s why CCT Towers residence leaderships have organized a game night for all students who stays at Towers residence on Saturday 19 August 2023 at TV hall. During the game night students sing, dance, eat, and play games like pool and chess.

Students were divided into five groups and there must be six people per group. Those groups were called Apple, Orange, Banana, Pineapple, and Mango and there must be one person who represents the group. The competition was tough as all groups were prepared and determined to play these games.

Performers were all given a minimum of five minutes to play the games on stage. The CCT games night was organized to bring students together for fun and friendly competition.

One of the leaderships of Towers Nonkululeko Mtshali said, “One of the reasons we turned to have such events in our residence it’s because they are part of team building and getting to know students that we live with better and them knowing us better. More importantly it is all for having fun and it is all about creating memories for students that are residing here and making sure that their varsity life is memorable as it can be.”

Hosting game night for students could help them socialize with others. Game night offers a relaxed setting for meeting new people and fostering new relationships. It can also help break the ice and promote communication and making it simpler to develop new connections. Yolanda Gqolana who attended the game said that coming to the game night was actually a good idea and she managed to make new friends because all the time she stays in her room.

“The games for today were very enjoyable and I was very happy that I managed to be out on my room after that test of Media law I wrote,” said Asisipho Mbabane, one of the students who attended.

It was a good thing for CCT leaderships to come up with this idea of hosting a game night show for students because playing games is frequently accompanied by smiles and laughter. That helped students to distress from their schoolwork and their attention was diverted to enjoyable and stimulating games.

"I was not sure if I should come or not but I'm not regretting coming here. They did a good thing by organising this game night because I even managed to make a new friends. I'm that type of a person who likes to stay in my room because I'm scared to approach people."
